Wow, it’s already June! Halfway through 2026 I can’t believe it.

I had an awesome time at Superfair ATX in February. I took a ton of pictures but here’s some highlights:

I went to the Game Developers Conference and had an awesome time. My round table about children’s safety online with the IGDA Child Safety Special Interest Group went well and we learned a lot together. This led to me speaking at a college about the topic and if that’s something you would like check out my contact form.

I went to Rochester, NY for a college reunion and saw old friends. It was great to be back, get inspired and reconnect. Rochester is so pretty in the spring. It was a tour weekend on campus so they had all these great photo ops set up.

While in Texas recently I got to scope out The Other Art Fair, Dallas. There was lots of cool work to see and I made some new art friends.

Hi Again Friends,

Happy New Year, Happy Valentines Day, Happy doing your best to stay afloat despite the tragedies around us. Since I last wrote, so much has happened. It’s a wild time to be in the states and a wild time to be on earth, new information, horrors, and events are happening so fast. I’ve been trying to lean into my local communities and check on my friends around the world throughout the chaos we are living in.

Back home the Journal Building Artist Residency was closed by ArtSpan San Francisco. All the artists had to move out after getting notice it was closing on the first of December last year. I appreciate the support from Art Span, it was a special place and time. It’s a real shame that the program had to end due to arts budget cuts state and nation wide.

I was fortunate to spend the holidays with my family and am so grateful to be able to be together in the face of distance and health struggles. All families should be able to be together and the forces in our country that are making that impossible for some to have that privilege people need to be stopped. Our country needs to outgrow itself and find a new way to operate that focuses on love and providing for (the most expansive interpretation of) ‘the least of these’.

I can’t wait to be back in town to reconnect with the community and celebrate life and work Haight Ashbury. San Francisco and the world grieved the loss of Bobby Weir of The Grateful Dead and I got the opportunity to help memorialize him in the Haight Street Voice. It’s been incredible to watch the community come together around their memories of The Grateful Dead.

My birthday is in the month of January, I was lucky enough to get to learn tons and make new friends at Pocket Gamer Connects, visit the Cartoon Museum and eat way too much cake.

I’m spending February on game design projects and a new body work on canvas that I’m looking forward to showing off at Super Fair Austin later this month.

Hey Friends, 

I hope you have been having a good summer and staying cool wherever you are. 

As usual it’s been a wild adventure and in a surprising turn of events I got hired for a new gig and get to keep my studio space at the Journal Building Artist Residency as a result of that which is really exciting for me. Since that turn of events was a surprise, I did my best with the help of some awesome friends (thank you, thank you, thank you!) in SF to get moved into a new studio space before heading to Texas to spend early July with my parents and celebrate life with them. 

Coquito Games who I do Production and Community work with, are playtesting a new project Where the Chips Fall and if you want to playtest our blackjack inspired roguelike you can join the discord or check it out on Itch.io.

I had the opportunity to head back to London to visit friends (new and old) and check out some of the shows and museums there this time. Here’s a cheesy tourism photo:

I found some really inspiring crystals and natural formations with a friend as my guide through her favorite museum, the Natural History Museum. Even the building itself is so cool, and the collection is beautifully curated and displayed. Here’s some photos: 

I also got the chance to spend the day at the Tate Modern Art Museum that has come highly recommended to me. It was great to wander around the place and really take everything they were presenting at my own pace. Here’s some photos:

The Virtual Exchange program with the IGDA Foundation has kicked off again and we are welcoming a new batch of awesome global game developers to the community. This program has taught me so much about playing and community.

Staying with the Journal Building Means I will be participating in the Art Span SF Open Studios event in the fall and the JB is Weekend 3 October 4th and 5th. I hope to see you there if you’re in the bay area! 

Oh, also I got my inventory sorted out so no matter where I am I can hook you up with cute art stickers or if you want to support my studio work and get happy mail monthly you can join the new Post Card BFF Club.

Still in the bay area till the end of June right now and wrapping up project work here with the Journal Building ArtSpan Artist Residency. I’m also really excited about the new Grateful Dead anniversary celebration that will kick off in the Haight this summer Haight Street Daydream. 

 

I have a new body of work that is cooking in my studio as I power through blanks and try to focus on my solo work during this era of my life. I don’t want to ship any blanks back so now is the time to get at my commissions if you have wanted one! 

 

I have also started working on some solo developer interactive fiction projects which I may choose to share broadly at some point but right now if you are interested in playtesting my dark little stories please reach out about it.

 

I got to catch my first ever Mask Monday show at Standard Deviant Brewery which was such a fun event to check out, and it’s free to attend so look for that awesome works in progress event. Those kinds of shows are always where you can see someone doing an amazing act before they really make the big time. 

 

Next up is my bigger Texas adventure where I check in with family and old friends, make as much art as I can and try to find the most delicious pecan pie in Texas, among other things. As I go into this chapter I find myself extremely grateful for the teachers and mentors I have had, particularly in Clown Conservatory. The work of becoming a clown was the best thing I could have done to learn how to hold onto hope and a light soul even in the darkness of health challenges and our own human mortality. 

 

I will be back in California soon because the fresh bay air is good for my soul.

I had an amazing time at Superfine San Francisco! Thanks to everyone who came out, and those of you who sent me sweet messages from far away or from being sick on your couch I loved them all. When the going gets tough your kindness keeps me going. I’m not crying you’re crying.

I really am still amazed that I went to GDC. Me.

We don’t have to unpack everything behind why I feel that way, but it is safe to say it was an incredible experience full of old doors closing and new ones opening.

 

I met a lot of really fun people and worked on a team again during the IGDA Foundation training sessions in preparation for next year’s GDC event and Virtual Exchange Program. I have missed having a consistent team a lot as I have been doing consulting work solo for a while now.

 

I am so grateful for the history lesson about the IGDA Foundation and the team building exercises we did. Not to mention the opportunity to stand up in front of a room and talk about the history of San Francisco. They gave me so many opportunities for growth in such a short time.

On Thursday we had a well attended alumni picnic in Yerba Beuna. It was so awesome to meet these cool people in person.

 

I Also got to meet Ricardo from Team Gainz Productions and IGDA Foundation Velociteer from 2021 in person and play our first round of “We’re not really strangers” which was absolutely a highlight of my week.

At the conference itself I went to a lot of great talks and have a long list of things to catch on the GDC vault with my discord Vault watch group (like a book club but with GDC videos) we pick a video and talk about it each week. Pictured is a great slide from Kellen Malone and Pablo Schwilden Diaz’s talk on how to release 15 skins a month without losing your mind.

 

I attended my first ever speed networking session and made a friend to play Stardew Valley with. There were so many powerful moments where I felt seen and held in ways I haven’t before or in ages.

I am left noodling on the concept of whole person time instead of just face time. Time where you feel each other in space and how that kind of experience meets different needs and objectives than what we can accomplish online.

I look forward to attending again next year and preparing to bring more of myself, more to play with, and more constructive ideas about accessibility and DEI in the industry.

If I could do something better or differently next year it would be sleep more, right?

If we traded contact information, I will reach out so soon, the week took more out of me than I expect but in the most joyous possible way.

y’all I’m so overjoyed to announce that I’ve moved into the Journal Building Artist Studios and despite still being in the “eat pizza on a still packed box” stage of the move I am itching to paint. These are due for an installation the artists here are collaborating on in June. Follow along to see what develops while I get to know my new art community, everyone has been awesome already. So happy and honored to be here.

I applied for the space and was accepted last fall but with the holidays, and then the flash flooding, and general unpredictable life, I was finally able to move in last week.
